Coming up, we will celebrate the 110th anniversary of the inception of the Calgary Public Library and the CWLC. We are proud to carry forward the work of Annie Davidson and her group of literary enthusiasts who successfully campaigned in 1906 for the establishment of public libraries in our city. Now, in 2015-16, having access to an abundance of resources, our reading club activities get underway with an exciting program.  Our theme this year centers on recognizing local authors whose works have distinguished them. We begin on October 6 with a visit to the Taylor Family Digital Library  at the U of C and an exploration of the archival collection of W.O. Mitchell . Each Tuesday thereafter, in October/November, March/April our members will present their individual research on a local author of their choice. The program promises presentations on writers who have been our “reading for pleasure” companions.
