Calgary Women’s Literary Club President’s Report 2015-2016

Two years have flown by, at least for those of us who are CWLC members. President Lillian Tickles has stewarded us graciously through a very full agenda of field trips, member presentations, guest speakers, author visits and Club celebrations (which merited a spot on CTV!), all the while managing to greet members, welcome new members and accomplish business goals. Thank you, Lillian, for two years of outstanding commitment and leadership to CWLC!

President’s Report, April 2016, by Lillian Tickles
As I look back on my biennium as president of the CWLC, I can sincerely say “what an honor it has been.” Our increase in membership, our stimulating program presentations, the opportunity to socialize prior to each meeting, the development and growth of our website, the development and revision of our constitution (now called Principles and Guidelines) and the celebration of our 110th anniversary, came together for club activities that all of us can be proud to say “we made it happen.”
Although I am tempted to single out certain members for their contribution to the success of our endeavors, I would be remiss if I didn’t attribute our accomplishments to the cooperation and contribution of everyone. We work well together! We share a common enthusiasm for literature in all its forms. We have capitalized on the diversity of background and creative abilities represented in our club. We are fortunate to have the support of the Calgary Public Library in all its branches. We are grateful to those who have carried on the work of Annie Davidson and kept the CWLC alive and well for over a century.
As I hand over the role of president to Margaret Sparkes, I promise to say “yes” if ever she needs my assistance. And to all of you,  …I  say “thank you” and CHEERS to ongoing and rewarding literary feasts.
